I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of this BUT today, after my 6-year brushed off a compliment from her little sister (stop it Elizabeth! you're making me feel weird!) I said, "let me tell you something Maggie, whenever someone gives you a compliment, you always say thank you. No matter what. Otherwise the other person might think you don't appreciate it. It's just like when you get a present from someone, you ALWAYS say thank you, right? So, just think of it as a verbal present!"
Not bad? I have to say, sometimes I come up with some good ones!
